YANGON ENDPOINTFree VPN for Myanmar
VPNmine's Yangon server gives any VPNmine app a Myanmar IP address for free, over a WireGuard tunnel encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305. We record which server you used and when, never the sites, lookups or content. For people outside Myanmar; inside, the 2025 cybersecurity law makes unauthorised VPN use an offence.
What people use it for
- Reach Myanmar banks, payment apps and services from outside the country
- Test how a site behaves for a visitor with a Myanmar address
- Keep contact with Myanmar-hosted services that reject foreign address ranges
- Research and reporting that needs a view from inside the country's network
Estimated round trip
- Myanmar3-30 ms
- Bangkok or Dhaka25-55 ms
- Singapore or Hong Kong45-80 ms
Estimates from route distance, not measurements. Your provider's routing decides the real figure, and our speed test measures it in about twenty seconds.
Who this exit is for
The Yangon server is for people outside Myanmar who need a Myanmar address: the diaspora reaching a bank or a payment app that rejects foreign connections, researchers and journalists who need to see what the country's network serves, businesses with customers there. It reaches Myanmar networks in a few milliseconds and Bangkok, Dhaka and Singapore within a few tens. It is not offered as a way for people inside Myanmar to get around the blocking, and the next section is why.
What has happened since 2021
Since the coup of February 2021 the military government has shut down the internet regionally and nationally, blocked social platforms and independent media, and, from 2024, blocked VPN traffic directly with inspection equipment while reportedly searching phones for VPN apps at checkpoints. The Cybersecurity Law that took effect on 1 January 2025 makes it an offence to provide a VPN service without permission and to use one to reach blocked content, with fines and imprisonment. We cannot advise anyone inside Myanmar to take that risk, and we do not pretend the risk is smaller than it is.
What VPNmine does and does not do here
The server is rented hardware we configure ourselves, and it keeps what every VPNmine server keeps: which server a session used and when, and nothing about the sites, lookups or content. Traffic between a VPNmine app and the Yangon server is encrypted end to end with WireGuard. From abroad it behaves like any other location. From inside Myanmar, connections to foreign VPNmine servers are likely to be blocked, and the legal exposure described above is real; the choice is yours, and you should make it knowing that.
Confirm it rather than assume it
Connect to Yangon, then check what changed. Our IP checker shows the address and country sites now see. The DNS leak test shows whether your domain lookups are still going to your own provider, which is the most common way a tunnel protects less than it appears to. The WebRTC leak test catches the browser handing out your real address through an API the VPN never sees.
What we store while you are connected is the same in Myanmar as everywhere else: which server the session used and when, and nothing about the traffic. The full list is in the privacy policy.
Myanmar VPN questions
How do I get a Myanmar IP address for free?
From outside Myanmar: install VPNmine on your desktop, phone, TV or browser, sign in, and choose Myanmar from the server list. The app opens a WireGuard tunnel to our Yangon server, and every site you open afterwards sees that server's address instead of yours. No charge, no advertising and no card required.
Are VPNs legal in Myanmar?
Since 1 January 2025, no, not without permission. The Cybersecurity Law makes providing a VPN service without authorisation an offence and penalises using one to access blocked content, and the authorities had already been blocking VPN traffic and reportedly searching phones for VPN apps during 2024. We say this plainly because the alternative is letting someone find out the hard way.
Will VPNmine work from inside Myanmar?
Probably not reliably, and we would rather say so. VPN protocols have been blocked at the network level since 2024, the interference changes without notice, and using a VPN without permission is now an offence. A tunnel to the Yangon server crosses no border and is less exposed technically, but the legal position is the same. This exit exists for people outside the country.
Why offer a Myanmar server at all?
Because people outside Myanmar need a Myanmar address for reasons that have nothing to do with getting around the blocking: reaching a bank, a payment app, a government portal or a domestic service that rejects foreign connections, or seeing what the network inside the country actually serves. The server is there for them, and the page says clearly who it is not for.
