TEL AVIV ENDPOINT

Free VPN for Israel

VPNmine's Tel Aviv server gives any VPNmine app an Israeli IP address for free, over a WireGuard tunnel encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305. We record which server you used and when, never the sites, lookups or content. For Israeli banking and broadcasters from abroad, 10 to 20 ms from Cyprus.

What people use it for

  • Reach Israeli banks, broadcasters and government services while abroad
  • Encrypt everything you send over café and public Wi-Fi
  • Keep your browsing off the record your own provider holds
  • An exit within 20 ms of Cyprus and 40 of Athens

Estimated round trip

  • Israel2-12 ms
  • Nicosia or Athens10-40 ms
  • Frankfurt or London55-80 ms

Estimates from route distance, not measurements. Your provider's routing decides the real figure, and our speed test measures it in about twenty seconds.

Why Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is where Israel's networks meet, at the national exchange run by the Internet Society's local chapter, and where the Mediterranean cables come ashore. Nicosia is 10 to 20 ms away, Athens 25 to 40, Frankfurt 55 to 75. A new cable system landing in Israel and crossing overland to Jordan is designed to give Europe a route to India that bypasses Egypt for the first time, which will make Tel Aviv a more important junction than it has been. Israel's own tech sector means the domestic network is fast and well peered.

What Israeli law requires

The Privacy Protection Law of 1981 was overhauled by an amendment that took effect in 2025, bringing it close to the GDPR, and Israel has held EU adequacy since 2011. The 2007 communications data law lets police obtain traffic and location records from providers under a court order, with an urgent-case exception. During the pandemic the Shin Bet's phone-location tracking was turned on the general public, and the Supreme Court limited it. Israel is also home to NSO Group and much of the commercial spyware industry, a reminder that the threat to a phone is often the phone itself.

What this changes about your connection

With the tunnel up, your provider sees encrypted traffic to one VPNmine address in Tel Aviv and nothing about its contents; sites see the Tel Aviv server. Using a VPN is lawful and universal in Israeli business. Since 2024 a law has allowed the government to close foreign broadcasters, and Al Jazeera's channels were blocked under it; a tunnel changes which network applies such a block, not the law behind it.

Confirm it rather than assume it

Connect to Tel Aviv, then check what changed. Our IP checker shows the address and country sites now see. The DNS leak test shows whether your domain lookups are still going to your own provider, which is the most common way a tunnel protects less than it appears to. The WebRTC leak test catches the browser handing out your real address through an API the VPN never sees.

What we store while you are connected is the same in Israel as everywhere else: which server the session used and when, and nothing about the traffic. The full list is in the privacy policy.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Israel VPN questions

How do I get an Israeli IP address for free?

Install VPNmine on your desktop, phone, TV or browser, sign in, and choose Israel from the server list. The app opens a WireGuard tunnel to our Tel Aviv server, and every site you open afterwards sees that server's address instead of yours. No charge, no advertising and no card required.

Are VPNs legal in Israel?

Yes. VPN use is lawful in Israel and universal in business, and there is no filtering regime that targets it. The blocking that exists is court-ordered for specific sites, mostly gambling, plus the 2024 foreign-broadcaster law, and is applied at the provider level.

Does a VPN protect against spyware like Pegasus?

No. Pegasus and tools like it compromise the phone itself and read messages before encryption and after decryption, tunnel or no tunnel. A VPN protects traffic in transit from the network you are on. Keeping the operating system updated and restarting the phone regularly does more against device compromise than any network tool.

Is Tel Aviv a good exit for the eastern Mediterranean?

For Israel itself and for Cyprus, yes; Nicosia is 10 to 20 ms away. Israel has no direct connectivity with most of its Arab neighbours, so traffic from Lebanon, Syria or Iraq reaches Tel Aviv via Europe and the figures are correspondingly long. For those countries the Nicosia, Istanbul or Kuwait City servers are closer.
