[SINGAPORE_ENDPOINT]Free VPN for Singapore
VPNmine runs an OpenVPN server in Singapore that any VPNmine app can connect to for free. Traffic leaves the tunnel with a Singapore IP address, encrypted with AES on the way there. We record which server you used and when, and never the sites, lookups or content that passed through it.
What people use it for
- Get the lowest-latency exit available across South East Asia
- Reach Singapore services and pricing while you are outside the country
- Encrypt everything you send over public, hotel and airport Wi-Fi
- Keep your browsing off the record your own internet provider holds
Estimated round trip
- Singapore and Malaysia5-20 ms
- Jakarta, Bangkok or Manila25-60 ms
- Mumbai or Sydney60-110 ms
Estimates from route distance, not measurements. Your provider's routing decides the real figure, and our speed test measures it in about twenty seconds.
Why Singapore
Almost every submarine cable between Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia passes through or lands at Singapore, and the country hosts the region's densest concentration of exchange points and data centres. For anyone in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines it is normally the nearest well-connected exit by a very large margin, and it is often better than a domestic route for reaching anything outside the region.
What Singapore regulates
Singapore's Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act, in force since 2019, allows ministers to issue correction and takedown directions to platforms and individuals, and the IMDA administers blocking of specified categories of site at the network level. The Personal Data Protection Act governs commercial handling of personal data. Practically, an exit here is excellent for routing and is not a jurisdiction to pick if what you want is a permissive content environment.
What this changes about your connection
With the tunnel up, your own provider sees an encrypted stream to a single VPNmine address and nothing about its contents, and sites see the Singapore server instead of you. Because so much regional traffic transits Singapore anyway, connecting here often shortens the path rather than lengthening it, which is unusual for a VPN and is the main reason to pick it from South East Asia.
Confirm it rather than assume it
Connect to Singapore, then check what changed. Our IP checker shows the address and country sites now see. The DNS leak test shows whether your domain lookups are still going to your own provider, which is the most common way a tunnel protects less than it appears to. The WebRTC leak test catches the browser handing out your real address through an API the VPN never sees.
What we store while you are connected is the same in Singapore as everywhere else: which server the session used and when, and nothing about the traffic. The full list is in the privacy policy.
Singapore VPN questions
How do I get a Singapore IP address for free?
Install VPNmine on your desktop, phone, TV or browser, sign in, and choose Singapore from the server list. The app opens an OpenVPN tunnel to our Singapore server and every site you open afterwards sees that address instead of yours. No charge, no advertising and no card details.
Are VPNs legal in Singapore?
Yes. VPN use is lawful in Singapore and standard in business. The tunnel changes how your traffic is routed, not what the law permits, and Singapore's online content rules apply to conduct rather than to the route.
Why is Singapore usually the fastest server in South East Asia?
Because the cables already go there. Singapore is a landing point for most of the systems linking Europe, the Middle East and South Asia to East Asia, and it hosts the region's densest interconnection. Traffic from Jakarta, Bangkok or Manila to almost anywhere outside the region is likely to transit Singapore whether or not you use a VPN.
Singapore or Tokyo from South East Asia?
Singapore, for almost everything in the region: typically 25 to 60 ms from the major South East Asian cities against well over 100 ms for Tokyo. Tokyo becomes the better exit when your destination is in Japan, Korea or on the west coast of North America.
